Together we Change Mobility for Good – nextbike GmbH becomes part of TIER SE

 

Since November 2021, nextbike GmbH has been a wholly owned subsidiary of TIER Mobility SE. As part of the merger, the nextbike brand turned into the joint brand “nextbike by TIER”. 

Roughly one year after we joined forces, nextbike GmbH merged with TIER Mobility SE on 18.10.2022. 

From this point on, we will pursue our mission of moving people and making bike sharing an elementary component of urban and regional mobility as one company. For the last year, we have already been working together with TIER Mobility on our joint mission of Changing Mobility for Good, and we will continue to do so. With e-scooters, e-bikes and bicycles, we are shaping the mobility of the future.

Our offers remain unchanged and have become part of the TIER Mobility offer on 18.10.2022. Your contractual partner is now TIER and not nextbike. Since the contents of the contracts already concluded have not changed (incl. terms and conditions as well as the privacy policy), no action is necessary on your part.

Of course, you will still be able to rent all nextbikes at the usual conditions via the nextbike by TIER app.

What is TIER Mobility?

TIER Mobility SE is the world’s largest provider of shared micro-mobility solutions. In Germany alone, the company offers shared e-scooters and e-bikes in more than 100 locations – for livable cities and more sustainable mobility. Since 2021, nextbike has been a part of the TIER portfolio.

Can I rent TIER vehicles with my nextbike by TIER account?

Until further notice, you can only rent nextbike by TIER bikes with the nextbike by TIER account. In many cities, however, TIER vehicles are already displayed in the nextbike by TIER app. This is a so-called deep link that redirects you to the TIER app for the rental or, if you have not downloaded the app yet, directly to the app store. 

Do I need to sign a new contract with TIER or open a new customer account?

No. Your original contracts concluded with nextbike GmbH as well as your customer account remain valid. However, for the use of the nextbike by TIER offers, your new contractual partner is now TIER Mobility SE. A new customer account is not required.

Will TIER have access to my personal data?

Since TIER is your new contractual partner and functions as the provider of the nextbike by TIER offer, TIER is also responsible for your personal data as of 18.10.2022. However, nothing will change in the way your data is processed. The privacy policy is of course still valid. 

When will all offers be integrated in one app?

The integration of TIER vehicles via deep link into the nextbike app is a first step towards the complete integration of both offers. 

Our goal is to be able to offer all vehicles in one app and to ensure a pleasant transition for users. For this reason, we will communicate further adjustments as soon as they are ready. 

Will the nextbike by TIER service become more expensive as a result?

No, the merger with TIER will not change the conditions of the nextbike by TIER offer. All conditions and tariffs of the respective systems are available here: https://www.nextbike.de/en/prices/. 

Are my free minutes now also valid for TIER? // Can I use the free minutes instead of for nextbike by TIER also for the ride with TIER?

Despite the deep link, the sharing offers of TIER and nextbike are two independent offers with different price structures. The respective offers, free minutes or partner links are therefore only valid individually and are not transferable.Â
