Our core competence
nextbike is Europe’s bike share leader. We get more and more people on bikes and make it a natural part of urban mobility. As pioneers, we have been developing sustainable bike sharing systems since 2004.
We are currently active in over 300 cities and see ourselves as a complement to bus & train. Our business model is based on cooperations with cities, transport companies, universities and businesses.
In 2019, nextbike was named test winner in the German bike sharing market by Stiftung Warentest.

nextbike is sustainable
Sustainable financing and investments are among the big trends on the capital market. The Corona pandemic seems to have reinforced this development. An important instrument in the evaluation of assets and securities is the ESG investment approach: Environmetal, Social and Governance. This means that in addition to financial performance, the dimensions of environment, social and corporate governance are also included.
The fact that nextbike’s business is environmentally friendly per se is obvious, or rather it is written on the street. With 90.000 (2021) bikes worldwide, we promote the use of the most ecological means of transport par excellence and make an important contribution to improving the quality of life in cities.
With our sustainable business model in the field of micro mobility, we fulfil several sustainability goals of the United Nations (UN), the Sustainable Development Goals („17 SDGs“). The independent sustainability rating agency imug (Institut für Umwelt-Markt-Gesellschaft) based in Hanover, has reviewed and confirmed nextbike for the following UN SDGs:
SDG 3:
HEALTH & WELLBEING
SDG 8:
DECENT WORK & ECONOMIC GROWTH
SDG 11:
SUSTAINABLE CITIES
& MUNICIPALITIES
SDG 13:
MEASURES FOR CLIMATE PROTECTION
